Quyon Ferry reverses course, closes due to pandemic

FITZROY HARBOUR – Four days after opening, owners Ed and Ralph McColgan have changed course and will close the Quyon Ferry as of tomorrow evening (March 27).
“In belief that everyone must do their part during this difficult time, as of Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m., we have chosen to suspend ferry service until April 13,” the cousins released in a statement. “The service will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 27. Stay safe.”
This is the first year of operation under Ed and Ralph’s ownership after Don McColgan retires last year. The closure reflects the request from provincial and municipal governments asking residents to limit inter-provincial travel.
