More COVID-19 vaccine appointments available today in Ottawa

OTTAWA – The City of Ottawa confirmed delivery of additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and is able to offer more appointments to eligible residents starting at noon today (April 27).

Appointments at community clinics are available to residents age 60 and over (born in or before 1961).

Appointments will be available at the city’s community clinics between May 1 and 28. Visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine to access the provincial booking system or call the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., seven days a week. Only book or call if you are eligible. 

 Additional appointments will open when more vaccine supply is confirmed.

Lower age limit for ‘hot spot’ communities

The province has lowered the age limit for individuals living in one of the three provincially defined “hot spots” that have postal codes beginning with K1T, K1V or K2V. Residents 45 and over (born in or before 1976) living in one of these areas, can also visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine to book an appointment at one of the city’s community clinics starting today.

When you book your appointments through the provincial booking system, you will receive a confirmation code. Please bring this code with you when you go to your appointments. If you do not have a confirmation code, your appointments were not successfully completed. Please revisit the provincial booking system or call 1-833-943-3900 to book your appointments and receive your confirmation code.

To enable physical distancing and to reduce the number of people in the clinic, please arrive for your vaccine no more than 10 minutes before your appointment time.

Vaccinations in high-priority neighbourhoods

The City continues to focus on high-priority neighbourhoods. City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health staff will conduct targeted outreach to adults who live or work in these neighbourhoods and use a variety of strategies to book appointments for these residents at clinics starting May 1.

Licenced childcare workers

Effective Thursday, April 29, childcare workers in licensed childcare settings will be eligible to book an appointment through the provincial booking line at 1-833-943-3900. Eligible workers in licensed childcare settings will receive a letter from their employer. This letter must be available at the point of booking and taken to the vaccination appointment. In the coming weeks, eligibility will be expanded to childcare workers in unlicensed childcare settings across the province.

Pregnant individuals

Now that there are appointments available through the provincial booking system, pregnant individuals can book an appointment by calling the provincial booking line at 1-833-943-3900. If you have already pre-registered on OttawaPublicHealth.ca, you will be contacted with the details of your appointment. Either way, please do not walk-in to a vaccine clinic unless you have a scheduled appointment.

First Nation, Métis and Inuit populations

To book an appointment for adults 16 and over at the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health call 613-691-5505. To book an appointment with Akausivik or for more information, call 613-740-0999. For more information, please visit OttawaPublicHealth.ca/IndigenousVaccine.

 Pharmacies

Pharmacies in Ottawa will provide AstraZeneca vaccinations to residents of Ottawa age 40 and older.

Call participating pharmacies directly to book or visit their websites.

These vaccinations are separate from Ottawa Public Health and the City of Ottawa’s vaccination roll-out.

Walk-ins not accepted

Walk-ins will not be accepted at any location. This includes walk-ins at the end of the day. Book your appointment in advance. Remaining doses at the end of the day will be administered to residents on the wait list.
