CARP – The federal government bestowed $600,000 on the Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum today (July 6) which will be used in part to “safely welcome back visitors,” after two years of struggling to deal with COVID-19 impacts on the tourism industry and a facility with no windows.

DUNROBIN – Re-named officially at City Hall last winter but celebrated on Canada Day (July 1), the Dunrobin soccer field is now named after long-serving volunteer Hugh O’Gorman who passed away far too early on Oct. 15, 2021, at the age of 54.

WEST CARLETON – Canada Day made a triumphant return to West Carleton Friday (July 1), and although there were still a couple of popular longtime events missing, those that were held were focused solely on celebrating Canada’s 155th birthday.

CONSTANCE BAY – While Constance Bay is a beautiful part of the world, it would hardly be mistaken for tropical. But you’d be surprised how many palm trees you just might find in the Ottawa River community.

CARP – The predicted hot Carp Fair summer is off and running in 2022 with a loud end to June and things really heating up in July.

ELM – A small neigbhourhood in West Carleton has brought back an important piece of its history and returned it to its proper place in front of the small schoolhouse that served Elm starting almost 200 years ago.

KINBURN – The West Carleton Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) took their equipment to the Kinburn Community Centre June 11, 12 and 13 to compete in the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) Very High Frequency contest.

DUNROBIN – A little rain didn’t hurt anyone, as Dunrobin’s volunteer firefighters fed an estimated 700 people during the return of their annual pancake breakfast Sunday (Jan. 12) morning.

CARP – The Buy the Village Green (BVG) committee will dissolve on a high-note making three significant donations to three local organizations.

KINBURN – On Saturday, May 28 stand-up comedy returned to Kinburn.
