Rain doesn’t dampen Renfrew County fires’ strength

RENFREW COUNTY – Despite a record-breaking deluge yesterday (July 25) three forest fires still burn in the county.

There hasn’t been much change in the forest fires in Head, Clara and Maria township.

Because of the heavy rain experienced throughout Renfrew County Tuesday night and into Wednesday, water bombers were not used yesterday, but the rain didn’t help bring the fires under control. They’re still burning at 37, 45 and 697 hectares.

Elsewhere, Whitewater Region has lifted its fire ban, while every other municipality has kept the ban in place.
