As the sticky weather approaches and the beach season begins, I am looking forward to being out in the community, soaking up the sun with residents during West Carleton’s most enjoyable time of year.

This week has seen a slow recession of flood waters, much to the relief of myself and our entire community.

This week a meeting was held to start a conversation about the Dunrobin Plaza. Members of the Dunrobin Women’s Institute, the Community Association, and an owner of the Plaza were in attendance.

We had quite the downpour of ice this week and I sincerely hope everyone is managing to stay safe in a time of year when volatile weather can wreak havoc on the lives of people in rural areas.

These past two weeks have seen blizzards, biting temperatures, and major budget talk around the Council table. The 2023 Budget was passed after weeks of discussion and tinkering. Election years present unique challenges in crafting a budget for City Staff and the accelerated timetable means that the type of meaningful public consultation I am hoping to foster in this community, was not possible.

As the community thaws out after a quick deep freeze and some unwelcome snow squalls, our office continues the business of helping to solve issues and representing the needs and wants of the people of West Carleton–March.
