It has been a very busy few weeks at City Hall and in the ward as we consider several large files.

It’s good to be back after a very busy 2024 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference, held Jan. 21-22 in Toronto, where I had the opportunity to meet with four provincial ministers to advocate on behalf of Ward 5 and the rest of rural Ottawa. 

This past week, council passed the 2024 budget. We have heard for years about financial pressures and rising costs and the city is not immune from these issues.

The year’s final meeting of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee (ARAc) was held on Nov. 30 and included discussion about four Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) proposals in Ottawa’s rural wards, including three in Ward 5.

As the leaves fall and we all finish up the last of our soup made from Thanksgiving leftovers, I wanted to take the time to thank all the residents of West Carleton-March for their assistance and support during this first year as your councillor.

The summer has come to an end and the business of everyday life is top of mind for many of our residents as the busy autumn season begins.

While the rainstorms may have tried to dampen our spirits, the West Carleton-March community, with lawn chairs in hand, came out in full force for another great Concert in the Park this past week.
