OFS rescues stranded boaters in West Carleton
WEST CARLETON – Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) hit the water Sunday (Aug. 12) to rescue two boaters stranded in a broken boat.
At 4:04 p.m., OFS received a 911 call from boaters in distress on the Ottawa River near Aylmer Island. Their boat had broken down. Both boaters were wearing personal flotation devices and were safe in the boat. Upon arrival, water rescue teams helped the boat get back to Nepean Sailing Club.
OFS would like to thank the following agencies who collaborated with them to manage this incident: Ottawa Paramedic Service and the Ottawa Police Service.
“Our work together is based on trust, cooperation and a group commitment to service excellence and safety,” Public Information Officer Danielle Cardinal said.
Always wear a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) and ensure it fits snug and securely.
Ensure you are equipped with a safety kit when heading out on water and/or outdoor adventures.
