Fitzroy Harbour planning for some form of softball in 2021

FITZROY HARBOOUR – As the country begins to get vaccinated and the COVID-19 pandemic slowly recedes, the Fitzroy Harbour Community Association (FHCA) hopes bring back community programming in some form of another.
And they are starting with softball.
“We hope to be able to offer a softball program for kids if feasible,” FHCA President Karen Taylor said at tonight’s (March 11) annual general meeting (more on the AGM tomorrow).
While it looks like the pandemic is receding, in the short term, cases continue to yo-yo in the City of Ottawa casting some doubt on what will be possible in terms of recreational and youth sports.
“With the COVID-19 uncertainty surrounding the upcoming youth softball season, we are not going to open registration quite yet as we would in a normal year,” the FHCA released in a statement today. “However, West Carleton Softball is definitely going to try to put something together for the 2021 season, based on guidelines and regulations from the City of Ottawa and the province and best practices for safe sport.”
The FHCA will post more information at a later date on wcminorsoftball.ca.
