Another OC Transpo driver tests positive for COVID-19

OTTAWA – Another OC Transpo driver, who worked the Terry Fox Park and Ride route, has tested positive for COVID-19.

“(Yesterday, April 16), we received confirmation a bus operator has tested positive for COVID-19,” Transportation Services general manager John Manconi wrote in a memo to Ottawa city council. “The operator last worked on April 11 and may have been experiencing symptoms as early as April 10. The operator received the COVID-19 test on April 14 and continues to self-isolate at home. To protect the privacy of the individual, we will not be releasing their name.”

The department is working directly with Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and conducting contact tracing of individuals who have, or may have been, in close contact with the employee.

“OPH has advised the key dates are the period 48 hours prior to the first day the employee showed symptoms; in this case the key dates are April 10 and 11,” Manconi wrote. “OPH is following up with family and friends who may have been in close contact with the individual. We have begun contacting employees who may have come into close contact with this bus operator during those key dates.”

The operator was onboard three buses and one train on the key dates, serving the following routes:
