Carp Farmers’ Market honours Marcantonio Saturday

CARP – At the last official Carp Farmers’ Market, the board will pay tribute to recently passed, long-time market manager Ennio Marcantonio.

Marcantonio passed suddenly on Oct. 9 at the age of 61. He spent years with the market, first as assistant market manager around 1998 and then market manager for many years as well. Ennio’s wife Maggie is a long-time vendor at the market and Ennio had a hand in her recipes.

Tomorrow (Oct. 29) the Carp Farmers’ Market will honour Ennio’s commitment to the market with a food drive for the West Carleton Food Access Centre.

“In honour of our trusted and beloved market manager Ennio Marcantonio,” the Carp Farmers’ Market released in a statement yesterday (Oct. 27). “Giving back to his local community was what Ennio did best. In his honour, please bring along non-perishable food items if you plan on attending the market this Saturday. We will have bushels set up near the Agricultural Hall for the donations.”

The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carp Fairgrounds (3790 Carp Rd.).

There will be cheque presentation to the WCFAC from the Carp Farmers’ Market at 10:30 a.m.

Saturday’s market is also Hallowe’en, so there will be lots of fun for kids in costumes.

“The final market day on Oct. 29 is our annual Hallowe’en Market where kids who come to the market dressed in their Hallowe’en costume will be able to trick-or-treat from booth to booth,” market staff said.
