St. Gabriel’s bottle drive delays start

CONSTANCE BAY – The annual Saint Gabriel’s Bottle Drive is delaying their start this year due to COVID-19 so keep drinking and save those bottles.
Last year, the St. Gabriel Bottle Drive was really the only fundraiser Constance Bay’s Catholic Church was able to hold due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The church is well-known for its community suppers, which have been cancelled for going on two years straight due to COVID-19.
“Certainly, this won’t replace those fundraisers, but it does help in these rough times,” volunteer organizer Martine Messier told West Carleton Online last year. “It’s been constant, people are coming in with truck loads.”
Bad news has struck this year in the form of the Stay-at-Home order which has cancelled the first date the drive had scheduled, which was supposed to begin this Saturday (April 17).
But organizers are hoping to hold the bottle drive Saturday, May 15, roughly a week after the Stay-at-Home order is expected to be lifted.
The drive runs from 10 a.m. to noon at 205 Bayview Dr.
