Renfrew County reports two new COVID-19 cases

RENFREW COUNTY – After weeks of reporting no new COVID-19 cases in the community, the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) confirmed two additional cases of COVID-19 yesterday (July 27).

The numbers released from the health unit at noon yesterday show 29 confirmed cases, up from 27. Both new cases were confirmed in the Petawawa area and both patients are listed as being in self isolation.

The RCDHU says of the 29 cases, eight are from the Arnprior area, one in the Barry’s Bay area, one in the Deep River area, four in Pembroke and area, five in Petawawa and 10 in Renfrew.

With 26 cases resolved and one death related to the virus, which occurred early in the pandemic, the local health unit is currently aware of two active cases.

Of the 13 healthcare workers confirmed with COVID-19 in Renfrew County, 10 are employed outside of the county.

The RCDHU has completed 17,474 COVID-19 tests and has responded to 9,801 inquiries since March 18.
