Ottawa hits seven straight days of double-digit COVID-19 cases

OTTAWA – Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting 27 new cases of COVID-19 in the city, the seventh consecutive day Ottawa has had a double-digit increase in its confirmed positive cases of the virus.

Friday’s (July 24) numbers push the active case total up to 215.

Friday’s new cases are among 195 across Ontario. The province says two-thirds of the newly infected people are under the age of 40. 

OPH says there are now 10 local residents in hospital with COVID-19 – three of whom are in intensive care.

The overall lab-confirmed case count of COVID-19 in Ottawa since the beginning of the pandemic is now up to 2,361. The resolved rate has dropped to 79.8 per cent from above 85 per cent last week.

Ottawa’s COVID-19 death toll remains at 263, as there has not been a death related to the virus in the city since June 25.
