HCA bringing Ringette to ODR
Special to WC Online
CARP – Outdoor rinks are great for any sport played on the ice, and the Huntly Community Association wants to make sure Ringette players get a chance to play their game this winter skating season.
On Tuesday nights while the ice is in, ringette shinny is taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the outdoor rink. Any ringette player is welcome to join and play pick-up ringette at these times. The rink building (the Huntley Community Centre) will be open as well for warming up.
The rink is available for public use – free skate or shinny – at no charge, at any time when not rented for a private event. Private event rentals are indicated on our facility availability calendar and also with signage posted at the rink during the rental.
To inquire about booking the ice for private rental – which includes use of the heated lobby, change rooms and washrooms – please complete this form. Please note, private rentals are limited to ensure ample time for public use. For more information on the Outdoor Rink, please visit the HCA website.
Zumba and Bridge at the Mess Hall
The HCA has organized two activities this year at the Mess Hall (2240 Craig’s Side Rd, Carp).
The ZUMBA exercise classes have been a great success. Participants are enjoying the opportunity to get a fun cardio workout to music, with our enthusiastic teacher – Irina. If you’d like to try a class, just arrive at the Mess Hall Tuesday morning at 9:30 with comfortable clothes and indoor shoes. There’s a drop-in fee of $10.
The bridge group has continued to learn basic bridge skills on Wednesday evenings this winter, with expert instructor – Brenda Quaile. Members are now playing for most of the evening, after a short lesson. Depending on interest, the HCA hopes to continue meeting as a Bridge Club on an ongoing basis. New players welcome.
For more information on either activity, contact the HCA president at president@hca-carp.ca.
New directors
The HCA is pleased to welcome two new directors to the board. Dan Kovacs will act as Sports Director while Nicollette Frosst will serve as Director at Large. A complete list of HCA Directors can be found on our website here.
