From the branch: West Carleton Legion news

By Arleen Morrow for West Carleton Online

CONSTANCE BAY – Branch 616 has been kept busy during the first month of the new year with standing events such as TGIF dinners, meetings, and sports. Zone Darts, District Crib, Senior’s Zone Darts, and one Ladies Auxiliary darts event took up pretty much every weekend. Of course, the focus of all Legion activity is on our vets who benefit from everything we do.

This winter, the Legion welcomed three new members and one reinstated member. Membership Chair Jim Wilson reported that there are still 2019 dues owing. Anyone who has not yet submitted their 2019 dues should do so ASAP to be in good standing. Good standing is required to participate in inter-branch sports. Good luck to the players who are advancing to District in their various categories.

On Saturday, Feb. 23, Branch 248 Almonte is hosting a Doubles Dart Tourney, open to ladies age 19 years and up. Harriet Farrell is compiling a list of entries. Call Harriet at the Branch if interested.

Last Post: We say goodbye to Rick Dooher, a former member of Branch 616, and send condolences to his family. R.I.P. Comrade.

Past Events:

Sunday, January 20: Ladies Day. In spite of the snow, this event was a great success. Patrons were in and out all day. Only one vendor was unable to make it to the Branch. Thank you to Helene Charette who makes good things like this happen for the Legion and the community. Thank you also to all those who gave Helene a hand.
