CARP – The Huntley Community Association (HCA) revived the Carp Winter Carnival in 2020. It was the last public gathering the association hosted before the onslaught of COVID-19 just weeks after the carnival.

CONSTANCE BAY – The Constance Bay Skateway crew delayed the planned Skateway Winterfest by a day just to give them more time to work longer hours to bring the skateway’s first official celebration to the Constance Bay community last Sunday (Feb. 20).

FITZROY HARBOUR – A chilly day aided by a frigid wind didn’t stop the fish from biting in the revival of the popular Fitzroy Ice Fishing Derby held Saturday, Feb. 12.

CONSTANCE BAY – For owner and founder Paige Munroe, when the Kinburn resident launched Northern Off Road Girls in 2020, she was expecting her business to be hosting events in-line with the female-empowering outdoor brand. But COVID-19 made sure that wasn’t going to happen.

CORKERY – Last Saturday (Jan. 29) the Corkery Community Association (CCA) celebrated a Canadian tradition – the outdoor rink.

CARP – It was cold, players had to change outdoors or get dressed at home, but the sun was out, the ice was great, and the Carleton Place Canadians junior A hockey team was having a great time on the Carp outdoor rink yesterday (Jan. 26) for some good old shinny.

CARP – 2021 was far from perfect, but it was a huge step up for the Carp Agricultural Society (CAS) which was at least able to bring back the Carp Fair from its one-year COVID-forced hiatus after a dreadful 2020.

CARP – The Huntley Community Association’s (HCA) revival of the winter carnival was short-lived as the global pandemic took hold just a few weeks following the successful re-launch in March 2020, putting an end to the feasibility of large, organized gatherings in the COVID-19 era.
