CONSTANCE BAY – The second annual Northern Off Road Girls Charity Ice Fishing dDerby netted a big payday for the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre now under construction in Carp.

FITZROY HARBOUR – Record breaking cold weather, a Thursday (Feb. 2) evening snow squall, -40 degree Celsius weather, a wind chill that added to that, Mother Nature tried her best, but even she couldn’t stop the Fitzroy Harbour Winter Carnival.

KINBURN – Savvy Seconds has been through the wringer the last few years.

CARP – Card players were overjoyed to return to Carp Fair Euchre which kicked off Saturday (Jan. 21), but it was a bittersweet start to the series as those in attendance paid honour to long time euchre volunteer John Verney.

CONSTANCE BAY – Four of Constance and Buckham’s Bay’s hardest working volunteer organizations pooled their skills to put together a proper thank you to retired politician and Constance Bay legends Eli and Maha El-Chantiry.

DUNROBIN – Dunrobin volunteer firefighter Alex Carlson was selected by his peers as the Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) Station 66 Firefighter of the Year for 2022.

WEST CARLETON – It was a tough year for many, coming out of COVID and heading straight in to record inflation.

ALMONTE – The Almonte General Hospital (AGH) welcomed their first baby of 2023 at 5:41 a.m. on New Year’s Day and Audrey Marie Baird was back home in Kinburn that same day in time for dinner.

GALETTA – COVID-19 was so brutal, it even ruined cookies in West Carleton.

KINBURN – It was the Kinburn Seniors Association (KSA) annual Christmas luncheon and a large turnout of colourfully dressed seniors filled the Kinburn Community Centre to capacity.
