GALETTA – The largest crowd in the post-COVID era joined the Galetta Community Association (GCA) executive for its Feb. 28 meeting which focused on the upcoming lawn bowling season and the resurfacing of the outdoor rink pad and parking lot.

CORKERY – The Corkery Community Association (CCA) board decided to extend association President Katherine Woodward’s term last week, not wanting to lose her knowledge and experience as the expansion of the community centre switches in to high gear.

DUNROBIN – Weather may have delayed it by a day, but it couldn’t stop the Dunrobin and District Women’s Institute (WI) from joining the worldwide celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the first Women’s Institute.

VYDON ACRES – Around 50 politicians (from both sides of the Ottawa River), dignitaries, volunteers and snowmobile enthusiasts braved a chilly morning Saturday (Feb. 12) to watch the ribbon officially get cut on the World’s Longest Snowmobile Bridge.

WEST CARLETON – While much better known for his journalism in the Stittsville and Richmond area, John Curry who passed away Saturday (Feb. 5) at the age of 75, was also the editor of the West Carleton Review for several years before the newspaper folded in 2017.

WEST CARLETON – Love it or hate it, and apparently there’s no in-between, Freedom Convoy 2022 has caught the imagination of the country, and while demonstrators continue their lockdown of the city core today (Jan. 31), they were greeted by hundreds and hundreds of supporters on Highway 417 overpasses throughout West Carleton Saturday (Jan. 29) morning as the long line of vehicles made its way to create that ongoing gridlock.

KINBURN – The Kinburn Community Association (KCA) has had a quiet, stable couple of years sitting tight, as the COVID-19 pandemic made it difficult for the volunteer association to host its usual, many community events.
