Special to WC Online
ARNPRIOR – Union 108’s Ro Nwosu is bringing back Co-Nnect Yoga in the Park to Robert Simpson Park this spring and summer featuring 13 weeks of classes led by 15 different certified yoga instructors from around the Ottawa Valley.
The 2023 Union 108 Yoga in the Park series comes free to the community thanks to 18 sponsors including the Town of Arnprior and Lululemon.
“Bring your friends, family, co-workers and more every Wednesday June 7 to Aug. 30, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.,” Union 108 owner and lead instructor Nwosu released in a statement. “Be guided by some amazing teachers at Robert Simpson Park in our beautiful town of Arnprior, for 13 weeks of all levels, all ages, all people yoga and movement practices.”
The first four classes are held at the Nick Smith Centre (77 James St.) unless the weather and dry grass permits them to be held at beautiful Robert Simpson Park (400 John St. N). For July and August, head to the park unless it is raining.
“Bring your mat, water, sunscreen, towel and a community mindset because we are here to connect with each other, with practice and what it means to lift each other up and grow,” Nwosu said.
Each class there will be prizes and those who make it out to more than 80 per cent of classes are eligible for the big prize.
To be eligible, participants must register online for each practice, and you can do that by clicking here.
This is the second year the Co-Nnect Yoga in the Park series has been held. While the weather didn’t cooperate every week, the turnout and spirits were high whether indoors or outside.
“Co-Nnect Yoga in the Park began through a series of events celebrating diversity, inclusivity and community connection through wellness events and local collaborations and the tradition continues y’all,” Nwosu said.
