Carp waste facility catches fire

CARP – A Tomlinson Waste Recovery Centre in the Carp Road Corridor area caught fire Monday evening (Aug. 6).
While cause has yet to be determined, the fire was reported shortly after a thunderstorm rolled through the area. Ottawa Fire Services reported receiving multiple 911 calls about the incident around 8:35 p.m. The reports stated smoke and flames were visible from the building at 2173 Richardson Side Rd.
Fire crews discovered a refuse storage building and its contents fully involved upon arrival.
The structure was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported. Ottawa Fire Services said an investigator will not be needed for this incident.
