WOCRC offers virtual COVID-19 coping program for kids

WEST CARLETON – The Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre (WOCRC) is offering a virtual group program for kids coping with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
My Worries and Me: A Coping Skills Group for Kids is a virtual group for children aged eight to 11 providing education around, and techniques to manage feelings of worry.
Topics include psychoeducation around anxiety; ways to identify anxious thoughts/feelings; ways to manage anxious thoughts/feelings; and relaxation techniques.
This group will meet virtually once a week for six weeks starting Thursday, May 28. The group will run weekly from 3 to 4 p.m.
“Please note an intake session is required for registration,” the WOCRC released in a statement. “An assessment interview will be conducted prior to group start date. Due to an existing waitlist, spaces are limited for this group and is offered only to those in the WOCRC’s catchment area.”
