CARP – The West Carleton Family Health Team (WCFHT) will host an invitation-only COVID-19 vaccination clinic this weekend.
“A limited supply of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is available at the WCFHT,” the WCFHT released in a statement this morning.
The WCFHT sent a number of invitations out to its clients this morning inviting them to sign up for appointments for the clinic that will be held Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18. If you did not receive an invitation, please do not contact the WCFHT to try to set up an appointment.
The clinic will be held outside in a drive-through style, similar to the way the WCFHT provided parking lot injections last July to help provide clients with important medicine during COVID-19.
“We realized, if we did not find a way to offer injections as scheduled, patients could suffer adverse consequences,” WCFHT doctor Karen Ferguson said at the time. “Our team developed a protocol allowing nurses to continue to provide these injections in the clinic parking lot.”
It is expected the vaccination clinic will run in a similar fashion.
“These clinics are weather dependent,” the WCFHT said. “If we need to postpone, you will receive a notification from us and your appointment will be moved to a later date.”
Patients will need to bring their completed consent form and a valid health card. The clinic is for people to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine shot only. Patients will receive their shots in their vehicles and they must remain in their vehicle during the injection and the 15 to 30 minute waiting period following the shot.
The clinic is for those aged 60 and more. Patients are asked to wear a mask and short sleeved shirts.
The WCFHT also asks all of its clients who have received a vaccination to share that information with the clinic.
“If you have received one or both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, please let us know so we can update your record,” the WCFHT said. “To report your vaccine, please login to your portal account and fill out the form on the main page (above the photo tiles).”
