WCFAC cancels major fundraisers

Special to WC Online

KINBURN – The West Carleton Food Access Centre (WCFAC) has made the difficult decision to cancel its two biggest fundraisers.

“We have come to the sad decision to cancel our Book Sale and our Christmas Craft Sale for this year,” the WCFAC’s board of directors released in a statement last week (June 24). “It was a tough decision, but in light of all the uncertainty, better safe than sorry. We look forward to hosting both events, even bigger and better, next year. Stay safe and stay healthy.”

The WCFAC Annual Colossal Book Sale is held every September at the Carp Agricultural Hall. For months volunteers collect books donated by the community. It’s a popular event that often marks the end of summer.

The Christmas Craft Sale is also very popular.

Last year was the fifth annual craft sale for the WCFAC and has grown larger every year. Held Mid-November, local artisans and vendors rent space in the Carp Agricultural Hall and the WCFAC manages the event.
