WEST CARLETON – Environment Canada has issued an Extreme Cold Warning as it expects very cold wind chills to blow in to town this evening (Jan. 14).
“Very cold wind chill values developing this evening,” Environment Canada released in a statement today. “Temperatures are forecast to rapidly fall through the day today. As a result, by this evening, wind chill values near – 35 degrees Celsius are expected to develop.”
Expect a chilly morning tomorrow (Jan. 15) as well.
“As temperatures fall even further tonight, even lower wind chill values near -40 C are possible into early Saturday morning,” Environment Canada said. “After moderating somewhat Saturday afternoon as winds ease, extreme cold wind chill values to -35 may return for some areas Saturday night into Sunday morning. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.”
Temperatures are expected to reach -11 C on Sunday (Jan. 16).
