WEST CARLETON – Navigating through the ever-changing COVID-19 safety protocols in a challenging proposition, but the West Carleton Skating Club (WCSC) has come up with a safe return-to-play plan and is offering three programs for West Carleton skaters.
“We are pleased to announce we are now open for the 2020-2021 season registration,” the WCSC executive released in a statement Oct. 7.
The WCSC will be offering CanSkate, PowerSkate and StarSkate programs this winter.
“The Skate Ontario Return to Play protocol does not permit clubs in Ontario to offer a Pre-CanSkate program, at this time,” the WCSC said. “CanSkate programs may be offered based on certain criteria including among others, ‘there will be no hands-on assistance as the coaches must maintain a distance of two meters from skaters at all times when in the rink.’ Hands on coaching is prohibited.”
The WCSC has decided to introduce a new program to replace the Pre-CanSkate program.
“We value all of our skaters, including our younger skaters,” the board said. “We are pleased to announce this season we will be offering a new program to replace the Pre-CanSkate, which will be the Parent and Tot program. Stay tuned for more information. Thank you for your continued support and we will continue to keep everyone updated.”
