WC all over 2024 Ottawa Awards nomination list

WEST CARLETON – The area’s largest people’s choice awards is now on, and as usual, West Carleton businesses and people are found all over the nomination list.

Despite never, not even once, making the list of nominees, West Carleton Online has covered the Ottawa Awards, presented by Mattamy Homes, since 2020.

The Ottawa Awards features more than 300 categories and is billed as the largest public voted awards event in Ottawa.

“Celebrating the people, places and businesses that make our city world-class,” Faces Magazine released in a statement.

Winners in the many, many categories will be honoured on March 8 at an event hosted at the Brookstreet Hotel.

“The Ottawa Awards is the National Capital Region’s premier annual event that celebrates the people and places that make Ottawa the best city in the world,” Faces Magazine said. “The Awards Event on Friday, March 8 is a unique, upscale and exciting night that has something for everyone.”

Many of the 2024 Ottawa Awards nominees call West Carleton home.

The Constance Bay-based Rural Route Theatre Company (RRTC) is nominated for Best Theater Group.

“I am thrilled that Rural Root Theatre Company has been nominated for Best Theatre Group in the 2024 Ottawa Awards,” RRTC member Judi Bastable released in a statement Jan. 24. “I have volunteered with this group for several years now, and they are an incredible bunch of people. They are dedicated, creative, and passionate about bringing theatre to our community, and especially, making people laugh. If you would like to support RRTC, please click below and submit your vote before March 7.”

No surprise here fir its many West Carleton fans, Hudson’s Corn from Panmure Farm is nominated for Best Ottawa=Based Food Product.

“Very grateful for the nomination,” Lynn Hudson released in a statement Jan. 22. “Please take a minute to vote.”

Photographer, musician, Constance Bay Legion member and Fitzroy Harbour resident Rheal Doucette is nominated for Event Photography.

“I am so honored and speechless to be grouped with these excellent photographers,” Doucette released in a statement Jan. 20. “Voting starts Jan 22 at 2 p.m. Pass the word around.”

Local influencer Joudel Stacey Janoska who calls Fitzroy Harbour home, made the list.

“Looks like I’ve been nominated for Fashion Influencer of the Year,” Stacey said Feb. 1. “It’s 100 per cent a people’s choice award.”

The mom of four is a digital creator focusing on ”fashion, beauty, travel and family fun.”

Local vineyard and brewery tour company La Vida Loca is once again nominated for best tour and best corporate retreat and team-building activity in the Leisure and Tourism category.

“It’s voting time,” Constance Bay-based owner-operator Ruth McKlusky released in a statement. “Happy to see several talented friends nominated for Faces Magazine Best of Ottawa awards, including: Rheal Doucette (event photography), Nicholas Wojtas (landscape photography), Cat Green-Stewart (visual arts artist), and Laura Paquet/Ottawa Road Trips (blog). Please take a minute and vote.”

Carp Village Tutoring is nominated for two awards including Ottawa’s Best Tutor and Best Local Business.

“I am super excited to be nominated this year in two,” owner -operator Sarah Reid released in a statement Jan. 23. “Voters can vote everyday from now until and including March 7. Thank you so much to all who nominated me and to all the voters.”
