Those hot Harbour Days, this weekend

FITZROY HARBOUR – From one party to the next.

Canada Day is barely a day old and its already time to plan for West Carleton’s next big party – Harbour Days kicks off this Thursday and runs all weekend (July 4-6) at the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre.

The fun kicks off Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. with the first game of a double-header night of softball. The ladies’ game’s first pitch is at 6:30 p.m. followed up with some Greater Ottawa Fastball League action as the West Carleton Electric take on the Ottawa Valley A’s starting at 8:30 p.m.

The annual Family Outdoor Bingo will also be taking place Thursday night in the picnic shelter starting at 7 p.m.

The Amazing Race Fitzroy Edition is the thing to do for youth aged 10 to 17 and gets started at 6 p.m. Teams of one to three people take on food challenges, sports activities and puzzles.

“Register your team in advance by contacting kaseymcurry@gmail.com,” organizers released in a statement. “Registration is also available on site. Lots of great prizes to win.”

Friday is accurately billed as Fabulous Fun Day and gets started at 6 p.m. The popular annual three-pitch tournament kicking off at 6 p.m. The Kids Bike Parade, led by Station 62 fire trucks, starts at 7 p.m.

“Come with your bikes, golf carts, four-wheelers and join the fun,” organizers said.

The outdoor beer garden is open and live music by Hashtag goes from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

On Saturday, get ready to pace yourself. Sizzling Saturday goes from 8 a.m. to midnight with all sorts of crazy stuff going on. The three-pitch tournament continues. Beach volleyball courts and washers are open and available all day. The sixth annual Choose 2 Live, Lisa’s Run five-kilometre race at 8:30 a.m. If you don’t feel like exercising enjoy the Firefighter’s Breakfast instead.

“The traditional breakfast is back,” organizers said. “Enjoy bacon, sausage, eggs and all the fixin’s.”

Breakfast will be available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. After that the St, George’s Anglican Church will host the barbecue from noon until 5 p.m. The Kids Fun Fair is also Saturday stating with a 11 a.m. magic show, face painting, games, a water sprinkler and all kinds of outdoor fun.
