WEST CARLETON – Some advance voting polls open tomorrow (Sept. 24) for the 2022 municipal election at select locations across the city (but not in West Carleton).
“Special Advance Vote Days begin this Saturday, Sept. 24 until Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” city staff released in a statement yesterday (Sept. 22). “During Special Advance Vote Days, electors can vote at any of the nine voting places in the city, regardless of their address.”
A list of the nine locations is available on ottawa.ca.
The closest advance poll to West Carleton is at the Richcraft Recreation Complex “4101 Innovation Dr.).
“New this year, the Elections Office has launched a Voters in Training event for kids of all ages to educate and engage future voters,” staff said.
During Special Advance Vote Days kids are invited to attend any of the nine locations and cast their own ballot (i.e., choosing their favourite thing about Ottawa, what they would do if they were mayor for a day) in special ballot boxes. More information on the Voters in Training event is available on ottawa.ca.
“Electors who do not vote during Special Advance Vote Days will have three other in-person opportunities to vote,” staff said.
Advance Vote Days will also take place on Oct. 7 and Oct. 14, and Voting Day is Monday, Oct. 24.
“On these days, electors can vote at their assigned voting place, as indicated on their voter notification letter or by using the Where Do I Vote? Tool on ottawa.ca/vote,” staff said.
