ARNPRIOR – COVID-19 is the culprit causing the West Carleton Rivermen to cancel this Sunday’s (Dec. 12) game against the Frontenac Phantoms due to a COVID-19 outbreak the other team is currently experiencing.
“It is with great sadness we have to postpone our game this Sunday, Dec.12 due to some positive COVID-19 tests on the visiting team,” the Rivermen released in a statement today (Dec. 9). “We felt it was in the best interest of the team and the community to reschedule this game into the new year. Please keep watching our page for a make up date.”
The Rivermen (7-5-0-2-1) sit in third place in the Eastern Ontario Hockey League’s (EOSHL) West Division as the league hits the half-season mark. The top four teams in each of the two six-team divisions earn a spot in the playoffs.
The cancelled game will be rescheduled at a later date and the Rivermen’s next home game will be the following weekend.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you can join us Saturday, Dec. 18 as we host the Bytown Royals in our last game until mid-January,” the Rivermen said. “We hope you all have a great day and a great weekend.”
