OTTAWA – If you drink and drive, the Ottawa police will track you down, even on the snowmobile trails.

The Ottawa Police Service conducted a RIDE program on several area snowmobile trails Friday evening (Jan.18). Frontline patrol officers teamed up with officers from the Ottawa Police Marine, Dive and Trail Section to enforce the Ontario Motorized Snow Vehicles Act, the Ontario Liquor Licence Act and the Criminal Code of Canada.

The RIDE program stopped 162 motorized vehicles. One three-day suspension, related to alcohol consumption and operation of a motorized vehicle, was issued.
Anyone with information relating to a drug or alcohol impaired operator of a motorized vehicle, is encouraged to call 911.
