Prepare for a windy Saturday afternoon

WEST CARLETON – Hold on to your hats West Carletonites, Saturday (Nov. 5) is going to be a windy one.
Environment Canada has issues a Special Weather Statement calling for wind gusts in the range of 70 to 80 kilometres per hour tomorrow.
“A cold front associated with a strengthening area of low pressure will move across the area Saturday evening,” Environment Canada released in a statement today (Nov. 4). “Strong southerly winds beginning Saturday afternoon ahead of the front will veer to southwesterly Saturday evening. Winds will begin to ease later Saturday evening.”
West Carleton is no stranger to wind the last few years, with last spring’s (May 21) derecho toppling trees, buildings and docks costing the City of Ottawa more than $9 million during the clean-up and a death toll of 11 people across Ontario.
