OPH hosting Kinburn immunization clinic Nov. 26
Special to WC Online
KINBURN – Get stuck in the arm with a needle next week (Nov. 26) and you won’t even have to leave West Carleton to do it.
Flu season is heating up and it’s time to start thinking about immunizations.
“Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is hosting a one-day COVID-19 and Flu Immunization Clinic in West Carleton-March,” Ward 5 Coun. Clarke Kelly released in a statement Friday (Nov. 15). “Appointments are not required at the clinic. Community members are welcome to drop-in, as capacity allows. Priority will be given to families of young children who cannot access the vaccines elsewhere.”
The clinic will be held on Nov. 26, at the West Carleton Community Complex (5670 Carp Rd.) from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“OPH recommends everyone six months and older get the annual flu vaccine and the updated KP.2-containing COVID-19 mRNA vaccine,” OPH staff said. “Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are particularly recommended for people at high risk of severe illness.”
In addition to the one-day clinic, there are other options available for residents to obtain their COVID-19 and flu vaccines including:
- Visiting a nearby pharmacy (pharmacies continue to be the main point of access for flu and COVID-19 vaccines).
- Checking with their regular health care provider to see if they offer the vaccines.
- Visiting an OPH Community Clinic to get their vaccines (for children aged 6 months to under 5 years and their household members and individuals facing significant barriers to access, such as newcomers without OHIP and children 2 to 5 years of age who have tried to access through another provider)
- Visiting an OPH Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hub (NHWH). NHWH offer COVID-19 and flu vaccinations for eligible high-risk individuals and priority populations facing barriers to access, including newcomers without OHIP and children under two (along with their household members). Other eligible residents may be able to access COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, as capacity allows.
