Longworth: Becoming Whole in a Fractured World

By Richard Longworth for West Carleton Online

Dear West Carleton friends, I’m excited to share some good news with you! My new book, Becoming Whole in a Fractured World, has just been released on Amazon.

A column header for Richard Longworth's Good News Story column.

It’s a practical, down-to-earth guide designed especially for Gen Z — and also, for parents, grandparents, counsellors and mentors who care about them.

We all know today’s world can feel overwhelming, constant noise, nonstop screens, pressure to perform, and uncertainty about the future. This book is my attempt to offer a roadmap: simple practices for finding balance, resilience, and a stronger sense of self.

This upcoming column marks the beginning of something new here in West Carleton Online. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing highlights from each of the 15 chapters — a column at a time. Each chapter focuses on real-life challenges and offers practical steps for emotional wellness, digital mindfulness, and navigating life with confidence.

If you’re a teen, college student, or young adult, I’d love to hear from you. What speaks to you? What doesn’t? Your feedback will help shape this journey.

If you’re a parent, grandparent or advisor, consider sharing this column with a young person in your life. You may find it sparks some meaningful conversations across generations.

To make this even more engaging, I’m offering a free Study Guide and a Reflection Journal Template for anyone who reaches out to me. It’s a simple tool to help you reflect on your own path toward becoming “whole.”

You can email me directly at richardlongworth@rogers.com for more information.

Let’s build something meaningful, together. Whether you’re 17 or 70, I believe there’s wisdom in sharing, listening, and walking this road side-by-side.

Stay tuned: in a few days, I’ll start with Chapter 1 and invite you into the conversation.
