Kanata’s PGA Americas July 13 tournament free to attend
Special to WC Online
KANATA – The fourth Commissionaires Ottawa Open Professional Golf Association (PGA) Americas tournament, featuring the world’s best young golfers, will be free to attend, and provide a wide-variery of getting up close with the athletes.
“We are excited to have one of the best PGA Tour Americas event back in Ottawa from July 13-19 at The Marshes Golf Club,” tournament director Andy Rajhathy released in a statement April 7. “As the Commissionaires Ottawa Open, presented by Lépine Apartments moves into its fourth year in Ottawa we have some great updates for you to consider.”
This year, general admission will be complimentary thanks to Commissionaires Ottawa.
“We have an upgraded VIP Experience with special access and great viewing areas including food and some beverage,” Rajhathy said. “All VIP ticket revenue goes to Soldier On so upgrade today.”
VIP single day passes are $150, and $500 for the entire tournament, and are available here.
Tournament organizers are still looking for volunteers to help out in a variety of ways.
“The week-long event requires about 250 volunteers and we are well on our way there,” Rajhathy said. “We still have several positions available and the volunteer crew really drives this event forward to help us accomplish our goal of raising $100,000 for Soldier On each year. You can do scoring, marshalling, parking, player services and more.”

Like all major golf tournaments, there is a pro-am during the week, and sponsors can get involved.
“Over the past three years we have seen many amazing businesses get involved in a partnership with the event, showing incredible community support,” Rajhathy said. “Any type of business or organization can get involved and have an incredible experience playing in the pro-am, advertising through signage, social media coverage and more. Touch base if you think there could be a fit.”
Or maybe you would like to have a budding superstar golfer stay at your house for the week.
“We look for people with homes within 20 kilometres of The Marshes to host these up and coming PGA Tour stars,” Rajhathy said. “This is a great experience and these relationships can last a lifetime.”

Or perhaps you would just enjoy carrying one of the player’s bags around all week.
“Caddies are required for these players and it’s a privilege to carry these athletes bags,” Rajhathy said.
