Huntley Curling Club offering free curling workshop

CARP – Hurry hard to the Huntley Curling Club (HCC) website if you want to try Canada’s unofficial national winter sport for free on Sunday, Oct. 16.
The HCC will be offering a free workshop for anyone interested in learning about one of the world’s most social sports.
“Bored this winter and want to learn something new?” the HCC released in a statement yesterday (Oct. 6). “On Sunday, Oct. 16, from 1 to 5 p.m., we are hosting a one-day open house for those eight years of age or older who want to give curling a try. We will have experienced curlers on hand to get you up to speed.”
All necessary equipment will be provided, but you are asked to bring clean running shoes or curling shoes with you.
Youth must be accompanied by an adult.
The last time the HCC was able to host this event was in a time before COVID-19. More than 24 people came out in October 2019 to pick up a broom and sweep as well as throw a few rocks. Of course, West Carleton Online was there.
“The whole goal of the club is to have fun,” HCC club manager Peter Smith told West Carleton Online at the 2019 event. “It’s a sport you can enjoy well in to your older years and I say that as a 73-year-old curler.”
