Heat warning issued for Tuesday, Wednesday

WEST CARLETON – Here comes the heat.
It’s been a bit sticky the last couple of days, and although we’re getting lots of rain today (July 18) cooling things off, Environment Canada says the heat will return mid-week.
“Hot and humid conditions are expected Tuesday (July 19) and Wednesday (July 19),” Environment Canada released in a statement today (July 18). “Daytime high temperatures reaching near 31 degrees Celsius with humidex values in the upper 30s are expected Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday’s overnight low near 20 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat.”
Slightly cooler temperatures are expected on Thursday.
“Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high risk category,” Environment Canada said. “ Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.”
