Great Galetta Gathering celebrates hat trick July 25

GALETTA – While the Village of Galetta may be one of West Carleton’s tiniest, there’s a ton of people who lay claim to it, and they will be gathering Saturday, July 25.

The Great Galetta Gathering is back for year three Saturday, July 25 from 2 to 8 p.m. on the lawns of the Galetta Community Centre (119 Darwin St.), and there will be a full afternoon of fun, entertainment, food and refreshment.

For the kids there will be bouncy castles, games, face painting and balloon animals. For the adults there will be a full day of music performed by Whiskey Sour, Kyle Felhaver, Yavor and Katya Beresnikow.

The Rocking Dock food truck will be on site with an incredible menu and non-alcoholic drinks. Local favourites the Covered Bridge Brewery and Farmgate Cider will be on site with both beer and cider for the adults.

The Great Galetta Gathering has become the community’s signature event in only a few short years.

Last year, West Carleton Online reporter Nonie Smart dropped by the celebration.

The event is free to attend, and the Galetta Community Association (GCA) does not run it as a fundraiser.

“The GCA is funded by the city to run the community centre, so we use this money to put the event on,” GCA President Sue Hierlihy told West Carleton Online last year. “Kinburn’s Mr. Chipper (tree removal services) is our major sponsor, and we also had roughly 20 local businesses that donated prizes to the raffle. That brings in a bit of money along with GCA sales of chips and pop. We will also give $150 to the West Carleton Food Access Centre from donations received for face painting and balloon creations. Overall, we are pleased as punch.”
