Give the gift of community
By Jake Davies - West Carleton Online
WEST CARLETON – Christmas craft sale season kicked off in fine fashion last week with the 38th Annual Christmas Craft Sale and kicks in to high gear this weekend.
Fans of shopping local are in for a great Saturday (Nov. 17) with two craft sales to choose from – but we recommend you hit both (for a complete list of all Christmas-themed events in West Carleton, visit our Christmas Calendar).
The Fitzroy Harbour Craft Fair runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Fourth Annual Carp Christmas Craft Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year West Carleton Online will be celebrating its six-month anniversary at the Carp Christmas Craft Sale – a West Carleton Food Access Centre (WCFAC) fundraiser.
Thanks to the WCFAC, West Carleton Online will have a booth at the craft sale and we’d love you to come by and say hi to publisher Jake Davies.
Since our launch on July 3, we have published 514 stories and countless photos – every single one chosen for its relevance to the West Carleton community. Our editorial department has provided our readers with an electronic ton of exclusive content created just for subscribers focused on our community.
Often, our exclusive content is published just hours after the event has happened.
In the 135 days we have been in operation we have covered a provincial election, municipal election, West Carleton’s worst natural disaster in history and continue to cover, on a weekly basis, the community’s incredible journey of rebuilding. We have produced original content covering every corner of this amazing community. We also cover our community’s closest neighbours, not just Ottawa but Arnprior, Almonte, Carleton Place, Pakenham and across the river in Pontiac County. And we publish every single day.
Don’t miss a story by signing up to our Morning Headlines email service – we’ll email each day’s headlines first thing every morning from Monday to Friday.
More than just providing a community journalism service for West Carleton, we are trying to create a community hub. We are the only media outlet that publishes community obituaries as a service to our readers, not an opportunity for advertising revenue. Our Events Listings is the most comprehensive list of West Carleton events available anywhere. While only subscribers can post events (at no extra charge), our listings page is available to anyone – meaning subscribers can reach anyone around the world who has an Internet connection.
We hope our Business Directory will also become a hub for anyone looking for professional services in West Carleton. Like everything at West Carleton Online, this wonderful advertising opportunity is included in the cost of an annual subscription. Subscribers can list their business for free, but anyone in the world can search our directory.
This Christmas give the gift of community with a $50 annual subscription to West Carleton Online.
To our subscribers, we hope you have enjoyed our website as much as we have enjoyed covering the West Carleton community (again). But we are always looking to improve, so please continue to send your story ideas and website suggestions to westcarletononline@gmail.com.
Either way, subscriber or curioso, drop by the Fourth Annual Carp Christmas Craft this Saturday – we’d love to meet you.
