Flu, COVID vaccine clinics November in Arnprior
Special to WC Online
ARNPRIOR – The Arnprior and District Family Health Team (ADFHT), in partnership with Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) and County of Renfrew Paramedics, will hold three Flu and COVID Vaccine Clinics in November at the Old Grove in Arnprior.
“Both the COVID-19 and flu vaccines are available at the clinics, and individuals can choose to have one or both vaccines,” Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) communications manager Melissa McDermott released in a statement yesterday (Oct. 26).
The clinics are walk-in only and will be held on Nov. 1, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 at the following times:
- 1 to 3 p.m. – Flu vaccine only
- 3 to 6 p.m. – Both vaccines available (choose to get one or both)
“Many people are facing COVID and vaccine fatigue, but as we head into what is expected to be a challenging flu and COVID season, I urge our community members to get vaccinated and stay up to date with their COVID boosters,” Dr. Robert Cushman, Acting Medical Officer of Health, RCDHU, said. “This will put us in a better position to ward off future waves and protect our healthcare system that has been under immense pressure.”
The flu vaccine is available to all individuals six months of age and older who live, work or go to school in Ontario. It provides individuals and their communities with important protection against influenza and helps minimize impact on the healthcare system.
The Flu and COVID Vaccine Clinics will have COVID-19 vaccine options for five years and older. This includes the bivalent booster vaccine that targets both the original COVID-19 virus and the most recently circulating COVID-19 variants. The bivalent booster dose is available for those 12 years of age and older (at least six months since last dose).
Individuals are up to date with their COVID-19 vaccine if they have:
- Completed primary series (doses #1 and #2)
- Received a booster dose within the last six months
The Flu and COVID Vaccine Clinics will be held at the Old Grove, 275 Ida St. North, Arnprior. The clinics are walk-in only and individuals must bring their valid OHIP card.
