WCGC January Meeting
January 14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
WCGC January 14th General Meeting
The West Carleton Garden Club and Horticultural Society (WCGC) will be holding its monthly meeting at Carp Memorial Hall on Tuesday, January 14th. Doors open at 7 p.m. for refreshments and social time, and then there will be a presentation on « Raised Gardens » by former District 2 Director of the Ontario Horticultural Association, Anne Harbord.
Raised gardens, also known as raised garden beds, are planting areas that are elevated above the natural ground level. These gardens are typically contained within a structure or frame, which can be made of wood, stone, concrete, metal, or other durable materials. Some of the benefits of raised gardens are: improved soil quality, ease of maintenance and weed control.
It’s never too early to start planning for the upcoming gardening season and January is a good time to get those plans underway.
This is an in-person meeting at the Carp Memorial Hall (3739 Carp Rd.). The presentation is free to WCGC members and $5 to any visiting public members. In the event of inclement weather, a notice will be placed on the WCGC website offering a Zoom option. Visit www.wcgc.ca for current information.
