KANATA – The Drop the Shame and Get in the Game charity golf tournament raised more than $25,200 for the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) still under construction near Carp.

The tournament is organized by a former client of the DSYTC, Hunter Manor and this year Drop the Shame celebrated it’s sixth anniversary on July 20 at The Marshes Golf Club.

“Six years and more than $135,000 raised by a young man with a big heart,” the DSYTC released in a statement. “Lots of great memories for Hunter with family and friends from the day. Great weather, lots of laughs and fun team building with a wonderful meal at the end of the day.”

Money raised goes toward the Village of HOPE Capital Campaign which has a goal of raising $4 million for the construction of the new DSYTC well underway in the Carp Road corridor.

“Thank you, Hunter for continuing to support DSYTC and provide HOPE to Youth and families dealing with addiction and mental health issues,” the DSYTC said.
