WEST CARLETON – So much fun last year, West Carleton-based Real Estate agent is bringing back the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways.
Last year, DeRoche launched the 14 Days of Christmas Giveaways as a way to get to know the community she was a relative newcomer to.
Kicking off Dec. 1, DeRoche will give away an amazing prize each day for the first 12 days of the month.
“The first year was a huge success and many of the businesses gained new clientele thanks to the giveaway,” DeRoche told West Carleton Online yesterday (Nov. 17). “Some of our product-based businesses even sold out within hours of their spotlight day. This is why I wanted to do something like this and make it an annual thing. As a business owner myself, I think supporting each other within the community is empowering and exciting.”
Following another year living in the Dunrobin area, DeRoche is learning more about the community and falling more in love with it.
“West Carleton is amazing and my family and I have absolutely fallen in love with the people, businesses and sense of community out here,” she said. “I want this to be an annual contest, because it gives individuals an opportunity to showcase their small businesses to others that live in and around them in West Carleton. I think if we can place a spotlight on the hardworking individuals, families, and friends that offer top-notch services and products – its a win-win.”
DeRoche scoured the local business community who in turn donated prizes to the contest. This year’s list of businesses includes several new ones and returning one from last year:
- Day 1: Dunrobin Distilleries
- Day 2: Limelight Creations
- Day 3: The Hive in Carp
- Day 4: Perdido Coffee
- Day 5: Baylicious Bakery
- Day 6: Carleton Clean Air
- Day 7: Carp Garden Centre
- Day 8: West Carleton Online
- Day 9: Not Just Baskets
- Day 10: Crown Point Candles
- Day 11: Ottawa River Co.
- Day 12: West Carleton Household Services
“We have all new businesses this year, except for a couple returning and some of them I hadn’t heard of before,” DeRoche said. “I am a new customer of some of these businesses because they have products and services we love as a family. The prizes this year range from a full duct cleaning service, to West-Carleton themed candles, to beautiful custom sweaters. How fun. The positive feedback has been refreshing and its a great feeling knowing other small businesses in our community are getting an opportunity to share their story and products/services with new clients that live in the area.”
Each day, DeRoche will spotlight one of the businesses, and provide some history and background on their products or services. At the end of the day, she will give away a prize from the business.
