City to offer day camps if schools close Wednesday
KANATA – The City of Ottawa will be offering day camp programs for children between the ages of four and 12 if schools close Wednesday, but the closest one for West Carleton is in Kanata.
Teacher unions are threatening job action on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and the resulting one-day protest is expected to force public schools in West Carleton to close.
In response Ottawa staff will host day camps around the city tomorrow. The closes ones to West Carleton residents will be held at the Richcraft Recreation Complex and the Kanata Recreation Complex
The day camps will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at a cost of $40 per day. Other locations include:
English camps:

- Hintonburg Community Centre
- Greenboro Community Centre
- Rideauview Community Centre
- Walter Baker Sports Centre
- CARDELREC Recreation Complex
- Sawmill Creek Community Centre
- Greely Community Centre
- Manotick Community Centre
French camps:
- Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex – Orléans
- St-Laurent Complex
- Sandy Hill Community Centre
Pre- and post-camp care will be available for an additional fee from 7:30 to 8 a.m. and 5 to 5:30 p.m. at the following facilities:
