Charge in Hwy. 17 nickel spill

RENFREW COUNTY – A charge has been laid against the driver of a tractor trailer that spilled a load of powdered nickel on Highway 17 at Point Alexander Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 1).

A 39-year-old man from Montreal has been charged with careless driving.

OPP say the truck rolled onto its side around 12:30 p.m. between Brouse Road and Bass Lake Road, spilling its load. The resulting clean up required a vacuum truck and took almost 12 hours to complete, forcing the road to be closed until late last night.
