OTTAWA – Normally, that headline would be breezed over, but after last year’s Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) boondoggle that left more than 7,500 students without bus transportation at the start of the school year, parents are understandably nervous after the new general manager leaves the position less than a month before the start of another school year.

KINBURN – Earlier this month (May 10) Stonecrest Elementary School celebrated its silver anniversary and it was a look forward and a look back at the school’s 25-year history in the heart of West Carleton.

FITZROY HARBOUR – The students at St. Michael’s Catholic School, Fitzroy Harbour imagined a dragon and then brought the house down.

FITZROY HARBOUR – In what is fast becoming a spring tradition, the students, staff and family members of St. Michael’s Catholic School, Fitzroy Harbour spent Tuesday, May 7 in their neighbouring provincial park cleaning up garbage and honouring the ground.

DUNROBIN – Normally the Bill Mason Outdoor Education Centre trails are off limits to anyone who isn’t a student, but on Saturday, May 4 the public is invited to take a tour of the natural surroundings of the giant outdoor classroom.

WEST CARLETON – Since 2007, the Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists (MVFN) Cliff Bennett Nature Bursary (CBNB) helped secondary school students entering post-secondary studies in a natural field, make their story a good one.

WEST CARLETON – West Carleton’s schools are doing well according to the Fraser Institute’s annual school rankings of Ontario elementary and secondary schools released today (March 5).

WEST CARLETON – Thanks to the efforts from West Carleton’s elementary schools, more than 200 local seniors will receive a surprise handmade Christmas card this season.

KINBURN – In his brief time at Stonecrest Elementary School, Gabriel Evenson touched everyone he met from the student body to the staff he worked with, and now his memory will be a part of the school forever thanks to his parents’ efforts to have a Buddy Bench installed in the schoolyard.
