WEST CARLETON – Another stormy Canada Day put a damper on West Carleton celebrations, some modifying, some delaying, and unfortunately, some cancelling events.

CORKERY – For the first time in a long time, St. Michael’s Parish Corkery Catholic Church invited the community to enjoy camaraderie and community on their beautiful grounds last Saturday (June 24).

CARP – Saturday’s (June 17) Carp Fair Truck and Tractor Pull was all about timing.

CARP – It was an evening underground Wednesday, June 14, as the Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum celebrated a quarter century with the people that helped the museum get there.

KINBURN – The Kinburn Community Centre must be a good place to reach the world, as the West Carleton Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) were back last weekend (June 10), setting up antennas, outfitting mobile units, and filling the rink room with all kinds of communication equipment.

GALETTA – The weather was beautiful, and the grass was green, perfect conditions for the Galetta Lawn Bowls Club’s open house held last Saturday (June 10).

DUNROBIN – While there was action all over West Carleton June 3 weekend, St. Mary’s Anglican Church was a one-stop destination location featuring the best West Carleton had to offer, all rooted by the church’s popular annual plant sale.

DUNROBIN – This year, the weather cooperated, and the volunteer firefighters of Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) Station 66 served record crowds heaps of pancakes during their annual Firefighters Pancake Breakfast Sunday (June 4) morning.

CONSTANCE BAY – The roughly week-long run of the Rural Root Theatre Company’s (RRTC) production Murdered to Death was a return to pre-pandemic crowds, who enjoyed a blend of comedy and mystery in a return to live theatre.

KINBURN – With the lingering effects of the 2023 spring freshet still being felt in West Carleton, including by the volunteers hosting last Wednesday’s (May 17) disaster preparedness panel discussion, West Carleton Disaster Relief (WCDR) put the focus on wildfires during the meeting.
