CARP – The West Carleton Skating Club (WCSC) is sending not one, not two, but three skaters to the provincial championships this weekend.

GALETTA – It’s a big year for the Village of Galetta, as the new community association makes preparations to celebrate the community’s 150th birthday.

CARP – While the Diefenbunker has been a scene in a feature film before, never has it been the star of the show, like it will be in the currently under production slasher film I’ll Be Glad When You’re Dead, using Carp’s Cold War museum as the movie’s main location.

GALETTA – On Saturday (March 4) a group of about 30 people braved snowy road conditions, banged tin buckets, recited a wassailing chant and hung toast from a tree, all to ensure a great apple harvest next season for Farmgate Cider’s delicious product.

GALETTA – For those West Carletonites who regularly travel to Arnprior, for the last year-and-a-bit, they have been witness to a large infrastructure renewal project upgrading the Arnprior Transmission Station.

CORKERY – The March 7 Corkery Community Association (CCA) annual general meeting will have the top position up for grabs, but board members are not sure if there will be any takers.

CONSTANCE BAY – The Constance Bay Old Sled Run’s Sweet Sixteen on Sunday (Feb. 19) was a shorter tour than usual, but that didn’t stop the spirit of the event that honours the rich history of Canada’s snowmobiling industry.

FITZROY HARBOUR – Valentine’s Day is for lovers, and more than 115 of West Carleton’s longest-lasting lovers gathered in Fitzroy Harbour today (Valentine’s Day) to enjoy a luncheon, music and fun at the West Carleton Seniors’ Council’s (WCSC) first Valentine’s Day event.

KINBURN – Attendees outnumbers City of Ottawa staff at last night’s (Feb. 7) Ward 5 City of Ottawa 2023 draft budget public consultation, and Coun. Clarke Kelly declared that a minor victory for democracy.

CARP – Nearby volunteer firefighters were quickly on scene, and prevented a fully involved car from destroying a Carp-area garage it was parked in and the home the garage was attached to yesterday (Feb. 7).
