Carp Fair hosting 2020 agricultural, homecraft showcase

CARP – The Carp Fair may be on hiatus for 2020, but area residents will still be able to compete in the agriculture and homecraft divisions this year in a showcase of the community’s best.
“We are excited to announce our Carp Agricultural Society 2020 Showcase this September,” the Carp Agricultural Society released in a statement. “It will be an adapted version of entries typically judged in our exhibit and long hall. The 2020 showcase was made possible by the generosity of sponsors, coordination by our volunteer board of directors and of course our talented and skilled exhibitors.”
The full list of classes and prize money is available on the Carp Fair website and will include details needed for exhibitors to enter.
“You can register online at www.carpfair.ca, we encourage you to do this before bringing your entries to drop off,” the society said. “Tags will also be available at the drop-off area. If you need help with this, please contact our office at 613-839-2172. “
The process to accept, judge and pick up entries will include physical distancing, personal protection equipment and safety measures as recommended by Ottawa Public health in order to keep exhibitors, judges, staff, volunteers and directors safe. Due to these restrictions, spectators will not be allowed on site to view entries or results.
“We will be accepting entries outside the seniors building and agricultural hall in a drive through, drop off fashion – signage will indicate appropriate areas,” the society said. “Drop-off times are Saturday, Sept. 19 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (after the Carp Farmers’ Market), and Sunday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon. Face masks are required to drop off and pick up entries.”
Entries will be judged and photographed between Monday, Sept. 21 and Thursday, Sept. 24.
All results will be posted online Friday, Sept. 25, beginning at 9 a.m.
Entries can be picked up on Monday Sept. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
