Carp drive-in movies provide summer finale

CARP – See the stars on screen and on high at the same time at the Carp Drive-In Movie Night Aug. 28 and 29.

The annual event is a last great movie adventure before the start of school and is an important fundraiser for the Huntley Community Association (HCA). Every August for the last six years the HCA has brought the drive-in movie experience to the Carp Fairgrounds for only $5 a set of eyes.

Leave the cooking to the association as well as they will have the barbecue fired up and fresh popcorn and drinks available for purchase.

“We’ve had great feedback,” HCA board member Amy Baldry said. “We’ve filled the lot every year with the exception of last year – as a result we have gone back to our usual timing of end of summer.”

Last year they held the event earlier in August.

This year a pair of blockbusters will be on the big screen with The Greatest Showman (Aug. 28) and Avengers: Infinity War (Aug. 29). The rain date is Aug. 30.

You can dress the part as well as HoneyDrop Body Art will be providing face painting expertise.

The board would like to thank its sponsors including Tony Graham Toyota and WestOttawaRealEstate.ca for help covering the cost of the big screen and the films.

Parking and the snack bar opens at 6:30 p.m. with the movie starting at dusk. Organizers ask you be parked by 8 p.m.
