CARP – February is Heart Month and Carp Commons Retirement Village is doing their part in staying active and healthy.
“During the month of February, we have organized small but achievable tasks everyday to help keep our Residents moving” Carp Commons life enrichment supervisor Patricia Hass told West Carloeton Online Thursday (Jan. 27). “We have created a specific heart healthy calendar and each task can be completed in their own time or as a group.”
Heart attack, stroke and related conditions claim the life of a person in Canada every five minutes.
Things you can do to prevent Heart Disease and Stroke include eating a healthy diet and eating more vegetables, being physically active also helps keep your cholesterol and blood pressure low, take your medications as prescribed and avoid smoking and drinking too much alcohol.
“At Carp Commons our meals are always nutritious and delicious with many options to choose from, Hass said, “We help keep your body fit with our daily exercise programs by our Canfit Pro certified instructors; chair yoga, Latin chair dancing, strength, endurance and balance classes, as well as a walking club. The heart wise calendar program is open to those who are not residents of Carp Commons as well.
